Accelerated Treatment & Invisalign: A Match Made in Heaven

Screen Shot 2017-07-19 at 10.55.27 AMInvisalign system is hard to beat. Using a series of clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth instead of metal braces, Invisalign allows you to straighten your teeth without a latticework of metal, allowing for virtually invisible orthodontic treatment – and because you remove the aligners to eat, you can still enjoy all your favorite foods.

But it’s actually possible to make treatment with Invisalign even more convenient. When combined with an accelerated treatment program like Propel or AcceleDent, Invisalign offers all the advantages of convenient treatment as well as a reduced treatment time. As a premier orthodontist serving the Toronto area, City Orthodontics is proud to provide Invisalign, Invisalign Teen, and accelerated orthodontics at our office – so you can straighten your smile using the most convenient form of treatment on the market.

Combining Convenience with Speed

The Invisalign system is a revolutionary alternative to braces, and it’s gained massive popularity as an orthodontic treatment for good reason. Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible when worn, and the ability to still enjoy your favorite foods and maintain oral hygiene normally give it a huge advantage compared to braces. But when Invisalign is combined with accelerated treatment, things hit a whole new level.

Accelerated treatment methods like AcceleDent and Propel Orthodontics are simple, convenient, easy-to-use devices that have been clinically proven to cut treatment times by up to half. These devices use tiny vibrations called micropulses to stimulate the jawbone and gently, safely speed up the movement of teeth. All they require is about 20 minutes of use per day, and your hands are still free while you’re using them, so you can speed up your tooth movement while texting, reading, or surfing the web – making it even more of a convenient solution.

Reasons Teens Love Invisalign

We make it our goal at City Orthodontics to provide you with a beautiful smile with our convenient and efficient orthodontic treatments. One such high-quality treatment that we offer for our patients is Invisalign. While Invisalign is only intended for adults, that doesn’t mean that a teenager can’t enjoy the same benefits. As your trusted Toronto Invisalign providers, we’re also proud to offer a treatment that’s meant for teenagers – Invisalign Teen. Our teenage patients have grown to love this orthodontic treatment and we’d like to share with you some of the reasons why.

Invisalign Offers a Discreet Treatment

One of the drawbacks of traditional braces – especially for teens – is that braces are highly noticeable. Many teenagers may be nervous about how they’ll look while wearing braces and they’ll be hesitant to get them. With Invisalign though, this isn’t a problem. The aligners of Invisalign are virtually invisible, meaning that other people won’t even notice that a patient with Invisalign is even undergoing orthodontic treatment.

It’s Comfortable

Instead of being comprised of metal brackets and wires like traditional braces are, Invisalign is made of smooth polyurethane plastic. With traditional braces, the metal can occasionally scrape against a patient’s cheeks, lips, or gums, causing irritations. Invisalign doesn’t have this problem and generally offers a more comfortable orthodontic experience.

It’s Beneficial for Patients Who Play Sports

Many teenagers are involved in sports, whether it’s basketball, football, soccer, or something else. One commonality among these sports (and many other sports) is that there’s the possibility of physical contact. For a patient with braces, even if he or she is wearing a mouthguard, any contact to the face can potentially cause the braces to break and inflict more harm on the teenager’s mouth. Thankfully, the aligners of Invisalign are durable and likely won’t break or cause any extra damage to a patient’s mouth.

Patients Can Eat Whatever They Want

With braces, it’s necessary to avoid certain foods because of the potential that they may either break or loosen the wires or brackets of the braces. These foods that should be avoided include both hard and sticky foods. However, with Invisalign, there’s no need to have any food restrictions because the aligners are removable. A person can just simply remove the aligners and eat whatever he or she likes. It’s perfect for most teens who already have picky eating habits.

Tips for Caring for Your Invisalign Clear Aligners

Screen Shot 2017-03-21 at 12.48.15 PMWhen you’re in need of an orthodontist in the Greater Toronto Area that’s able to provide quality orthodontic care, we at City Orthodontics are glad to be here for you. We offer a wide variety of efficient orthodontic treatments along with the care needed to guarantee a comfortable and convenient experience for you. One of these treatments that we’re proud to supply in our Toronto office is Invisalign. Invisalign differs from traditional braces because the aligners are removable. However, that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to take care of them as much as you would for braces. We’d like to take this opportunity to give you a few tips on how to best care for your aligners.

Make Sure Your Aligners Are Always Clean

Just like how your mouth is always exposed to plaque and bacteria, your aligners are exposed to them as well. This is why it’s important to clean your aligners too. Whenever you go to brush your teeth, you should brush your aligners. We recommend using a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste. Brush them in the same manner as your own teeth and rinse them out thoroughly afterward. Also, make sure the water’s not too hot – which will lead us to our next point.

Don’t Let Your Aligners Get Overheated

You need to be careful that your aligners aren’t in a position where they can get overheated. Aligners are made of a plastic resin that has the potential to warp if it gets too hot. When this happens, it can cause the aligners to not fit properly. To keep your aligners from being overheated, you should make sure not to rinse them in hot water or drink anything that’s hot while your aligners are in.

Keep Your Aligners in the Case When You’re Not Using Them

There are a number of instances where you’ll be taking out your aligners. For example, you’ll take them out when you’re eating, cleaning your teeth, drinking something hot, and so on. In these circumstances, it’s important to keep your aligners in a safe location. This is why we provide you with cases for your aligners. By keeping your aligners in the case, you’ll be much less likely to lose the aligners. Also, they won’t get dirty by being left out in the open and you won’t accidentally mishandle or damage them.
